She sang the music she loved. Producers could not call her a jazz, blues, pop, gospel – whatever singer. I cannot listen to her music without tearing up. Cancer took her in her thirties. There was no time for her to develop a particular genre of singing with commercial potential. (Perhaps that would have “ruined” the music that just flowed from the core of her being.)
Fly Me to the Moon (4/4 time) is one of her legacy of songs that I like to hear, especially when I need some uplifting. Being a cancer survivor, Eva’s performances up until her death encourage me to stay active and productive as long as I have the gift of life.
