“Palliative care is focused on improving the quality of life for patients enduring chronic, advanced, or terminal diagnoses. It is an urgent humanitarian need – the need for palliative care is growing due to the rise of noncommunicable diseases and the rise of aging populations. A vital part of cancer care, nearly 30% of the worldwide unmet need in palliative care is found amongst cancer patients, especially for those who have advanced stages of cancer with little chance of care. The aims of palliative care is to relieve symptoms caused by cancer.”
