Opinion: Why science needs philosophy | PNAS
I just purchased an introductory book on the philosophy of medicine. That text plus this PNAS article will keep me busy for awhile–getting a handle on what to do (or what should be done) when rationing scarce medical resources in an environment of overwhelming demand. From nuclear fission/fusion to manipulation of DNA and other controversial issues, we must have understandings, laws, and regulations to guide us with our still slowly evolving cave-person minds.
